I'll be honest: I don't remember when the first time I read this book was. However, I re-read it during student teaching and realized how much I didn't like it. I know it's a classic and all, but I just don't like Steinbeck. So sue me!

So much packed into so little. What can I even say? Just a bit disagreeable at times.

Read it for school, its mid because i was forced to read it and not of my own free will.
Would probably have given it 5* if I had read it for myself and not for school.

Men have to do what men have to do?
(I read an edition with notes, which was quite helpful and let me getting more out of this story than expected.)

Of Mice and Men is a heartbreaking story of two friends from the South - George, a smart, independent man with dreams and Lennie, your typical Gentle Giant (just don't let him touch you). The characters are easy to fall in love with, especially Lennie. I didn't expect the ending to be so tragic; I actually thought that old Candy, Lennie, George and Crooks can do it. Nonetheless, it was an exciting read.
