This book is devastating and beautiful. I love the way Rafael writes. The only reason I can't give it the full five stars is because it took until about 60% through the story for me to feel a connection to the main characters. But Rafaels style and my friend’s recommendation kept me pushing. As heartbroken as I am, this story was definitely worth it.

I feel I could discuss this book for forever. It's not a book I would recommend to everyone, its content makes it tough to read. I found the themes in this novel are heavier and darker than "Angels Before Man". I did not expect it to evolve into horror, parts of it were so descriptive and gory. Somehow, Nicolás has made me me sympathize with the 'villain'. 

This novel has representation of almost every letter in the Alphabet Mafia. This is one of my favorite book series in recent years. Nicolás has created a unique body of work and I can't wait to read the next installment in the trilogy.
