The slow unfurling of the mysteries and the slow unfurling of the relationships are well done despite some very dark background context.

I wasn’t sure where this mystery was going until it unraveled in front of my eyes, so absolute kudos to the writer. I still think Tristian could talk more, but I’m less mad at him. Morana was awesome.

Dark Romance, Enemies to Lovers, 3 1/2 🔥

Not as good as the first one but I still really enjoyed it. I loved seeing their relationship blossom and seeing more of who Tristan is. Loved the found family vibes. The plot progression at the end was also beautifully executed.

“The man holding her was darkness. He was comfortable in the dark, one with the dark, owned the dark.”

I think this was even better than The Predator & I ate. this. up. The plot is engaging, we are still uncovering the mystery element from book 1, so much action amongst the stillness, and some spicy goodness in the mix. I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to read this series!!

TRISTAN CAINE 🥵🫠
This man is one of few words but my god does he choose them wisely. His actions speak louder than his words and who doesn’t love that? He’s deadly in his craft, and is so protective and possessive of Morana but it’s the green flag type of thing if you know what I mean 🤭

Morana is a strong fmc that can hold her own in this ruthless world of the mob. The things we learn throughout & at the end of this one had my mind blown!

In this dark world of such violence and chaos, I loved the found family within these books. The platonic relationships and side characters providing Morana a safe space, even though she’s seen as the daughter of the enemy, was beautiful to see.

I’m sad that this couple isn’t the focus of books going forward but I’m happy we get to see Dante up close and personal. I adored him and his big brother persona with Morana in these first books, so I’m ready to see him take center stage. I know he’s gonna serve up some juicy goodness in his books and I’M READY!

We continue to follow Morana and Tristan. They are now on Tristan's turf and they work to figure out the twisted world of their families while navigating their new relationship.

Honestly, I have the same complaints as the first book. It is incredibly repetitive. WE GET IT! He has beautiful blue eyes and sounds like whiskey and sin. Care to repeat it for the thousandth time? The writing isn't really great. There is a whole lot of telling instead of showing. ALSO... I am not a fan of 3rd POV, so there's that.

The story line could have been really interesting and this book could have been really good with more editing and revising. As it was the twists were pretty obvious.

I think Dante is the most interesting character of the 3. I am tempted to continue the series just to read his book.

I did appreciate the development of Tristan's character and how he communicated in more than just grunts throughout this book. I think the short timeline of his character's progression and emotional awareness was pretty unrealistic.

Morana continued to be very idealistic and naive.

So mobsters not believe in therapy? Could be helpful. Just saying.

Tropes: enemies to lovers, mafia, found family

Well, the writing didn’t get any better, if anything I saw more mistakes than in the last book but the plot remained intense and interesting so thank god for that.

I might pick up the third book if I’m feeling like a quick read but we’ll see

I loved it.
It was the perfect “conclusion” for Morana and Tristan journey.
(Even though it remains some dark spots in the story - to be continued)

You can see a really improvement in the writting between the first book and this one. It is also a good surprise and it added a real + to my reading.
