Accidentally started reading this book instead of the wicked king. Will eventually return to it after reading the others that come first in the series
“Sometimes life gives us the terrible gift of our own wishes come true.”
After reading The Cruel Prince a few weeks back, I was hesitant to read more by Holly Black. Although I enjoyed the characters and the story, something just didn’t click with me. Nonetheless, when I saw the deal for The Stolen Heir, I was once again tempted to enter the world of Elfhame.
Something so unique about Holly Black and her characters is that she’s not afraid to make them flawed. She creates characters that we can’t trust, that make bad decisions with consequences, and find themselves in moral dilemmas. It’s refreshing when it seems that every other book is filled with characters that always know what to do and how to do it.
