overall an enjoyable read, really loved all the layers to the characters and i’m excited to see what happens in the sequel. i feel so sad for wren and all of her trauma :((
i really wanted to give it 4 stars after the cruel prince series but i just couldn’t, mainly because the plot didn’t pick up for quite a while. i only felt like something was really happening in the last 150 pages (hence why i was able to power through them in one sitting) i like wren and oak’s friendship, but as it stands i feel like i need more for the romance to feel real.
the politics were alright but i was confused a lot of the time, so it took me a while to grasp what was actually happening. also, lady nore got off way too easily which killed the vibes a little.
the biggest pet peeve i had with this book though was how LONG the chapters were, sometimes it put me off, hence why it took me so long to finish.
