Knowing her as the author of the excellent historical fiction novel, "A Paris Wife," I didn't expect McLain's poetry to shine, but it does!

This collection carries unexpected depth and strength, and is akin to the early work of Olena Kalytiak Davis (And Her Soul Out of Nothing).

I felt like some of the references where over complicated. Overall I did not understand a lot of parts and had to reread in order to get a somewhat understanding.
