i really liked this one! for sure, i was so entertained and i got attached to the characters so much. abby really does know how to write good people in her books.
it kinda just felt flat for me. it didn’t have that WOW factors the other two books of this series had. it felt like i was reading a story i had read a hundred times already. the classic « falling in love with someone who has a completely different life than me and changing my whole life for them » wasn’t anything new for me and i just wished it had been done in a more realistic way. i have trouble with this trope because realistically,,, who would do that????
i love how jimenez always includes deeper elements to her stories. one of the themes she chose for this one was done so well. i have rarely read a romcom addressing abuses like this, including both physical and emotional abuses through two different relationships was really impactful, we could see the e impacts for each, how it affects people in different ways, but the hope can save them both. i also really like the way that the inclusion of such topics didn’t add heaviness to the book, it was so well executed and the additions make the books more impactful and meaningful, which i really appreciated
