My first read of Jimenez. It was wholesome, funny, emotional, realistic, and a little spicy. Liked the characters. Liked that it included emotional abuse, for readers to learn more about since I feel it's a topic that's misunderstood. A couple parts were more emotional than I planned for. Great romance read.

I wasn’t impressed. I liked the idea of the whole thing, but Daniel’s inability to take no for no was pissing me off. Alexis set boundaries multiple times, and he agreed every time with no intention of ever following them. I really didn’t like that. Even when she made a decision that she felt was best for herself, he thought he knew what was best for her. Idk. I didn’t like him very much in the second half of the book.

I thought this would be light-hearted romance novel and it was for the about first 100 pages. Then it turns into a different kind of book. See the trigger warnings if you'd like to know what's being depicted in this book.
Overall I enjoyed the book and the funny and wholesome side characters and the romance between the two protagonists

really very good.

very predictable (to the point where everytime she was like "what should i do" i was like.... girl we all know what you'll do lmao (and i was RIGHT hah) and quite heavy on the abuse from all sides (i really wasn't expecting so much abuse??? idk if it's insensitive to say that it could've been toned down a little.... but it really could've)

I felt a part of their world. I felt the stakes were real and the traumas authentic. TW:domestic abuse. I think the author handled such a sensitive topic so well and it made sense she consulted with people beforehand. I love that she showed how debilitating it can be to live up to legacy and how this pair navigates it.

It was a nice read to listen to while doing work but it absolutely made me pause at times because the gravity of it all. That’s the sign of a good story.

I also loved that we never got an explanation for it but Wakan is absolutely haunted. 1000% 😂

I cannot read wait to read the next in the series. I’m sure I’ll be just as charmed.

Loved almost every aspect of this book, even the cliches. Only thing that I don’t love is the “magic” of the town. Just not my favorite when things are attributed to magic in non-fantasy books
