4 stars. This was a very soft and sweet romance. No angst or big drama. There’s not even a third act breakup (hallelujah!) it’s just a really lovely romance between two women while working on a shrimp boat. It was so cute.

The writing is good. This was my first book by Spooner and I think it was a great place to start. It’s paced well, the characters are all charming and lovable, and the romance is swoon worthy. Kendra’s taken over her father’s shrimp boat and Lindsey is on the run from an embarrassing scandal and is sent to work with Kendra and her crew. There’s a bit of instant attraction but they both fight it for a while due to previous failed relationships. I loved their chemistry and how their relationship developed. They were perfect for each other and I liked how they communicated and worked through things together.

This book was like a warm hug and the side characters were just as wonderful as the leads. I genuinely enjoyed it and it’s going in my ‘Comfort Reads’ folder on my kindle for when I want to re-read it for a pick me up.
