I really wanted to like it but I didn't. I almost hate read it (with the help of an audiobook) in hopes of liking it or reaching the good part. I'll probably give it another chance in a few years.

I feel very conflicted about this book! On the one hand, it's a fantastic study of Reconstruction Era Britain. Wilde's social commentary is fantastically biting and shrewd, even more so if you read it with his trial in mind. On the other, I expected Dorian's character arc to develop a bit more - I found the characters to be quite flat and stagnant, and the pace dragged

also understandable how they used this as evidence against oscar wilde during his trial bc nobody could’ve written about men this way unless they were gay like… they kinda got his tea
