Phew, if you thought Muderbot had anxiety and trauma before! This installment showed more Muderbot having more vulnerability, at least with itself in recognizing it's own emotions and issues, which was so heartwarming. I hope it and Iris get more time to interact in the future, I'm hoping Wells puts her up there with Ratthi (re: being in every situation).

Murderbot, my beloved!

This next installment lives up to the rest of the series and it was so much fun to see Murderbot and ART interact with each other and their humans some more. The dynamic between Iris and Murderbot was fun to watch because Murderbot is aware of how special she is to ART and so it takes that in to consideration. I love found family and I love the like frustrated affection Murderbot has when it realizes that it has so many more humans to protect.

I look forward to reading wherever their next adventure goes!

Thank you to NetGalley and Tor for making this available in exchange for an honest review!

Thank you to Tor Publishing Group and Netgalley for the review copy in exchange for an honest review. This does not change my opinion in anyway.

System Collapse is already book 7 of the Murderbot series. I feel like time has been flying with this series. I can't believe we are already at book 7. This book is set directly after Network Effect.

This book rightly is called system collapse. Murderbot is struggling after the events of Network Effect. Thinking she lost ART and what happened with the contamination awith it at the end and the fight, really took its toll. As much as Murderbot tries to deny it, their is a part of it that is human. It has neural tissue. The trauma from Network Effect, but I would also think from previous adventures as a lot has happened to it, is catching up to it. And it is something that it has to deal with. Something that it is coming to terms with slowly in this book.

I think it was good to see this side of Murderbot. Everything can't keep happening to it without repercussions. It is interesting how at the start of Network Effect she was telling Mensah that she needed to take the trauma therapy and now it is in that same boat.

The story was decent. Nothing in that stood out per se. It was a good backdrop for what Murderbot needed to work through. It also shows some resolve for the ending of Network Effect.

The relationships between the characters was great. Murderbot and Art always make any conversation better when they are in it together. I also appreciated seeing Murderbot with Art's humans and seeing how their interactions work. Love how good Rathi knows Murderbot by now.

This was shipped to me early by mistake and I couldn't not read it immediately.
This book reads a bit like an ongoing panic attack by our resident SecUnit. Murderbot is doing worse than usual, poor dear.

The book makes the choice to chop down the now rather massive ensemble cast to four plus MB for the majority of the book, which is smart and I appreciate it, but also I was a little sad that we got so little Three content. Also i don't think in terms of compelling core team nothing will reach Amena & ART & Murderbot. Which is a lot of words to say that the relationships at the core of this book were somewhat less compelling than the ones in Network Effect.

In terms of steps up I found the happenings easier to follow (especially the intersystem communication).

I also liked the story very much, especially the team frantically making a documentary and the very tense escape through the dark at the end.

I adore the Murderbot Diaries, so when I got the chance to read System Collapse as an ARC I knew I had to read it immediately! This book did not disappoint, and Murderbot continues to be my favorite sci-fi series to date.

This was my first time reading a visual edition of the series instead of the audiobook, so that was definitely a bit of a learning curve for me! I think that no matter what format you go with you'll have a great time, but I do think I’ll go back and read the audiobook as well.

System Collapse does start off a bit slow, and there’s a piece of plot info that’s reveal is a bit underwhelming, but once we got to the second half it was action packed and full of great character moments. I love that Murderbot it expanding its group of humans, and I’m so excited to see where it and ART go next!

Thank you to TorDotCom Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC. All thoughts are my own!
