Some nice little stories which show the first glimmers of the Disc World. STP’s juvenilia so to speak.
A collection of twenty short stories by Terry Pratchett, written for newspapers during the 70s and 80s.
We visit the town of Blackbury, meet Og the inventor and have our first introduction to Morpork.
I'm not usually a lover of short story collections, but Terry Pratchett is a long time favourite author of mine so there was no way I would skip this.
The stories for the most part are very short - presumably born of being written for newspapers where there was a word limit. It doesn't matter, they are still complete stories, and plenty entertaining.
It's clear that they are a precurser for the Pratchett that many readers will have grown to know and love - the humour and imagination is clearly evident, however the satirical side of his writing isn't as present in these stories as it became in his later books. There are some familiar characters and places, and readers will definitely recognise aspects of some of these stories as having developed into later books.
If you are a Pratchett enthusiast then you should definitely grab this.

I didn’t expect to love this as much as I did. Every story is so well written and kept me hooked. I especially loved The Quest for the Keys, The Blackberry Jungle, The Great Blackberry Pie, and The Fossil Beach. What fantastical story telling!
