I liked the concept and storyline, I thought it was fairly unique and engaging. Lots of creepy vibes. I disagree with the reviews saying this isn’t horror. Sure, there’s definitely thriller aspects mixed in, but the situation is absolutely horrifying and the reality of the situation is no less horrific than the alternatives. People are horrific, sometimes.
I do think the book has some pacing issues, though. It felt very slow in parts and felt like a bit of a drag. I could also REALLY do without the “villain explains the plot” trope near the end. Would be so much more interesting for the characters to piece it together themselves.
The audiobook is just okay, personally I think the narrator ruins it. She leans heavily into the dramatic reading, alternating between whispering, yelling, crying, speaking through gritted teeth, etc, and I find it difficult/grating to listen to. Maybe others like that atmosphere in an audiobook, but I just wanted her to stop yelling at me. Also, I know it’s hard to voice opposite gender characters, but the way she reads most of the male dialogue makes me wonder if she’s ever heard a man speak before.

Recommended by my brother. I was surprised to say that I love this book. Science fiction isn’t my forte but this is something new from my usual reading. I immensely enjoy the story of haunted ship and ghost in the space. Really easy to read; not too overwhelming or complicated. Love all crew characters
I'm so close to the end. I'm SO CLOSE to the end. I only have 45 minutes left, and I just can't do it. I don't CARE! The narrators voice is really annoying because the MC is basically having a breakdown the entire book, so the narrator reads the novel as if she's about to burst into tears at any moment. And it's So Annoying. Apparently the big reveal is that the spaceship is running on a frequency that makes everybody go bonkers and this was designed by the corporation so they could get rid of a bunch of famous wealthy people. The main character sees ghosts but then the spaceship also makes people see ghosts. Are the ghosts real? Are they just the vibes? Who knows. Who cares. What a waste of my time.

I was looking for a unique book and baby, this was IT. I enjoyed the slight spook and the plot where I kept saying “come on, please don’t die.”

The reviews for this book were a little luke warm, but it was exactly what I wanted it to be. I always say there isn't enough space-based horror so I was quite glad to find this author, who seems to write that. The details of the story were strange enough to be scifi but realistic enough that it wasn't a stretch to believe any of the plot points. The characters were exactly who you would expect in a horror story like this one, and they all did their jobs wonderfully. It reminded me a lot of Event Horizon, which is one of my favorite films.
The fact that the answer to the problem was both the fact that Claire was able to see ghosts and that there was some kind of weird device on board that used vibration to make people insane was delightful. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't just a haunted ship, but Claire being a ghost whisperer saved it for me.
