I can’t stop thinking about it. As usual the last quarter of the book is so intense I couldn’t put it down. The world building is so amazing and well written. 10/10

I really liked this book!! I read it back to back with Harrow the Ninth, and while I really enjoyed how tense and twisty and confusing that one was, it was nice to read something a bit more lighthearted and joyful. I fell completely in love with Nona and her little family, and it was very interesting to read about the backstory of the Nine Houses. Despite the lighter tone, this book has a lot of dark themes and emotional moments. It works very well as a continuation and exploration of the series' themes, and I can't wait to reread all three books before the fourth one comes out!!

Nona the Ninth, Tamsyn Muir's third book of four in the Locked Tomb series, is a sudden but welcome shift from the previous two books. Nona is just a nineteen year old relearning how to interact with society with the help of her three parental figures. But it is later discovered that

the three parents are necromancers from the Nine Houses and that Nona herself is piloting the body of someone named Harrowhark Nonagesimus, and the Nine Houses want them back

. An astounding dual point-of-view familiar to readers of Harrow the Ninth and a cast of loveable characters familiar of the same. The explosive ending leaves me wanting more!

The Blood of Eden's attack on necromancers comes with a lot of slur-like terms and bigotry that is reminiscent of (but not a direct copy of) religious bigotry in real life.

Note on the terminal illness:

the main character is dying over the course of the story, but it's not from a real world illness. It's more supernatural in nature, but I thought I'd mention it just in case. A minor character also is very ill throughout the story, but again, it's supernatural in nature.

Child death:

the character who dies isn't technically a child, but their memory is wiped so they behave and think like one. So tagged it just in case.

Incest: it is implied by the way two characters interact with each other, but it is not explicitly in the text or at all graphic.

Did I understand what I read ? Eeeeeh, I am not so sure about that. I feel like I have even more questions than at the end of Harrow. 

But did I like Nona ? Yes. Yes, I did. 

The book felt slow, especially around the middle part but never boring. Nona was such a funny and lovable character  that I was more than OK with the fact that I felt like it was going nowhere. Tamsyn Muir has such a way with words than reading her books is always a nice moment. And everytime, she managed to surprise us again. I didn't felt like it was possible after Harrow and the way it was written and yet, here is Nona, such an unique book again. 

I can't wait to read Alecto the Ninth (and maybe finally understand something because I swear to God, I felt very stupid when I finished Nona and I still does)
