I'm not a big Bendis fan and this book didn't change my mind - it's a really good concept but one that gets worn thin. Every issue feels repetitive because every issue seems to remind us that they're all villains and you can't trust Norman Osborn.
A good, quick read but a squandered opportunity.

Interesting take, great art, okay story. Artist made Norman Osborne look like Tommy Lee Jones.
Would have liked a bit more background on the Dark Avenger characters.

For the past 3 years I've been obsessively telling everyone who will even pretend to listen that mcu is gearing up for a dark avengers movie and now I'm throwing it out to goodreads as well. We have most of the characters already!

anyway about the Volume... it's pretty bad, quite dumb, annoying, and edgy at a time when edginess was already edging out. That being said I'm gay and loved it

This is the Dark Reign when Norman Osborn had the keys to the kingdom.

And this is a really well put together title. It shows the Dark Avengers first mission and the building of the team and it’s really good. The art and paneling are consistent and there is enough variety in panel layout from issue to issue.

It’s also really engaging to have an Avengers comic where they take no prisoners.

It’s an interesting foil to the New Avengers that also intersects with it at certain points.

Overall if you’re reading new Avengers pick this up to read with it, and if you’re familiar with the time Dark Reign took place in, namely after Civil War and Secret Invasion then this is doubley interesting.

4 stars.

I wanna say like a 3.5. It's not particularly great but I enjoy it more than average

Is it possible to enjoy a book when you don't like any of the characters? Apparently so. I'm rather surprised that I liked it at all, but it's surprisingly entertaining considering. This is Norman Osborn's group of Avengers, and they consist mostly of psychopaths and murderers (but not in a fun, Secret-Six-kind-of-way).

SO GOOD this was so hilarious and so fun to read; i love the dynamics of this team, they are a disaster and they do not get along at all and all they do is threaten each other but i LOVE their interactions so much
