The book jumps from one person to another and it is hard to keep track of it all. The plot is too slow so I lost interest.
I liked this book a lot, much better than Girl on the Train, actually. It had a cool feminist bent and the story totally kept me guessing. Just when I thought I had every twist figured out, new details and clues popped up and made me think again. It's a spooky, atmospheric and fun. Highly recommend!
The book is similar to how Game of Thrones reads with each chapter as the point of view of a different character. At first, it was confusing because of so many characters and the first half of the book was slow to start before much happened. The second half, the plot really took off and made you want to read faster. The author keeps your guessing as to who did it all the way until the end.
Didn't finish this audiobook-too confusing with story being told by 11 characters. I will try to read the book later
I remember the hype surrounding this book when it first came out a few years ago and how badly I wanted to read it (which is why I've had it sitting on my shelves since 2017...). Since I've been going through my entire book collection and purging Tons Of Books, I came back across Into The Water & actually sat down to read it. I wasn't impressed? More let down? I didn't like any of the characters plus so many twists & turns just confused me more than anything. It was interesting to figure everything out & know how it went down but I could of skipped reading this book honestly.
This book was a bit boring. There were too many perspectives, and it was hard to keep everyone’s story straight. I feel like the ending lacked a bit. Honestly, the whole book was lacking for me.
This was a good book. There are a lot of ‘main’ characters to keep track of so it can be a bit confusing. The twist was good. There is a lot of toxic masculinity going on in this book.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat. The character switching was a lot to keep up with but I genuinely enjoyed the mystery and twists and turns. I was NOT expecting the ending, but it made sooo much sense once I finished it.
This was very different from The Girl on The Train but I think I liked it a bit better. The biggest differences: Into The Water move very slowly (really, the ending is not so suspenseful or much of a surprise) and offers a significant commentary on the lives of so-called "troublesome women." I enjoyed the book, even if it's not the thriller I expected, and would recommend giving it a chance even if you didn't love Hawkins' previous novel (as was the case for me).
I enjoyed this more than Girl on the Train - more complex characters and reading more like a crime novel than a thriller/suspense. Good summer read!
