I don’t think this book is for everyone — it flirts with the ridiculous too much. However, that’s also what makes it stand out. I’ve not read many romances like this and anyone looking for a run-of-the-mill contemporary story won’t find it here.

This was very sweet and charming and as a sci-fi/fantasy reader, the magical realism elements were a pleasant surprise. A silly, goofy time | ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

My local bookstore picked Her Knight at the Museum for book club, and I am curious what the rationale was behind the choice. I wouldn't have picked this up on my own because I'm not familiar with or interested in medieval themes. I will say that if you're in the mood for a smutty insta-love story, this book does deliver. I watched a Alex Meyer's video mocking Hot Frosty, and this seemed similar to that premise. Basically a statue that was getting our main character Emily horny comes to life with a kiss. Griffin, the statue, follows Emily around like a golden retriever constantly praising her beauty with various terms of endearment as she helps him adjust to today's world.

What Didn't Work for Me
Reading this book further solidified that I'm not a fan of insta-love. I am especially not a fan of it if it revolves around physical looks and sex. I felt like the main connection between Emily and Griffin was that Griffin was from a time period that Emily was interested in. That's great, but I prefer to see a connection developed by shared values. The major conflict in the book showed that the two characters did not have shared values, but it magically still ended in happily ever after with no real growth from that conflict. Again, if you are looking for a ridiculous, smutty time, you will appreciate Her Knight at the Museum a lot more than me.

Cute. Basically, it's Kate & Leopold, if Leopold woke up in a museum and set in Chicago.
