Massive yet imprecise, it sputters in fits and starts, sagging in the middle third or so. Simultaneously too long, yet lacking in finer detail, with a fitting end that leaves you wanting more. Paolini has come a long way from his Eragon days.

Forgot I finished this one. Thanks to the Stories From Among the Stars podcast, I was able to listen to the audio. I think it ended well, but there were several points during the novel where the protagonist’s bodily consent was violated, which I felt was not sufficiently or adequately dealt with. I’m leaning 3.5 stars and rounding up because I’m feeling generous today.
