Death of a Gossip

M.C. Beaton

3.3 AVERAGE

Fast, entertaining - though less of Hamish himself than I expected! Will read more in the series!

3.5 stars. i really enjoyed the tone of this book! it was a very entertaining cozy mystery with a dash of spice. safe to say i will be continuing this series.

This was a book club selection. I'm generally not a huge fan of mysteries, but I enjoyed this enough to read another. This is a short, quick read where the plot moves quickly and the characters can be a little one dimensional. I really enjoyed the Hamish character (the detective) and look forward to learning more about him in future books. When you need brain candy where the good guys persevere and the bad guys get what is coming to them this is a good option.

A pleasant relaxing read for in between larger novels, this may well become one of my pick and go series. Reading this is like spending time with family, you don't have to concentrate too hard and it's ok if you turn up in your old cardi and slippers.

Meh

One of the best of the series that I’ve read so far

I love mysteries set in small towns and also love to see slacker characters make good. So this was a perfect story for me, I really enjoyed it. It's a very fast fun read.

2.5 stars, I liked the character of Hamish Macbeth but the premise of a fishing vacation wasn't my thing. I do enjoy M.C. Beaton's humour and surprising dialogue, characters.
