i love kara thomas’s stories bc they really have u hooked from the start. this story was really good and so underrated. i think it’s for sure a bit mature for YA. i didn’t expect the plot twist ( i never do for kara’s stories) it was crazy i’m not sure what i think about it

Yikes. I was looking forward to this one, but now I kind of wish I could forget I read it. It started out strong—some things (such as her treatment at the hospital) felt unrealistic, but I thought there were many interesting avenues for the author to take the story. Ultimately, however, I felt that certain twists (particularly that last one, which I thought added absolutely nothing to the book and was just ick) were just there for shock value, and the characters all felt extremely inconsistent. I felt like we were reading about completely different people by the end of the book. Also, not a great representation of female friendship or parenting.

I loved this book but can’t give it five stars cause it didn’t give me the excited or gasp worth emotion like my five star reads do.
Pros: thrilling, good twists and turns, loved that the book was in parts
Cons: ending felt predictable and not sure I like the relationship between Kat and Jesse being the way that it was…

It took me a while to care about what actually happened that weekend, but the book had enough twists and turns at the end to redeem itself and earn a three-star rating.

This book tried really hard to throw in twists and perspective changes.
The motivations of the characters did not make any sense to me. Some really weird stuff happens but it wasn’t strong enough to salvage it for me.
It is a fast read and not long though

I enjoyed the process of reading the book, but I felt the ending was somewhat stupid.

I knew I was going to love this book because Kara Thomas wrote it.
Kara Thomas is one of my favorite authors. She writes the kind of YA mystery I crave, cleverly plotted and perfectly paced. Dark and twisty with distinctive characters. Her latest delivers on all of that.
What can I say about That Weekend? It's hard to describe without giving away all the good stuff. I don't reveal spoilers. I can say how it made me feel. I was on a nice suspenseful ride trusting it would end satisfactorily. I was as in the dark as the main character, truths slowly revealed but never in a frustrating way.
Go into this knowing as little as possible. Enjoy the ride.
And for those of you that gave this a low rating only because the subject matter of a certain plot twist at the end is abhorrent to you, I have one thing to say..
Relax people, it's fiction.
