A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire picks up right where From Blood and Ash ends. Like the first book, I found many things frustrating, but I still ultimately enjoyed it. It answers some questions from the first book while introducing new and even more mysterious questions, expanding on the rich histories of Atlantia, the Ascended, the wolven, and individuals (e.g. Poppy and Casteel). I found our couple’s relationship development in the second book more interesting and satisfying than in the first, and I’d say fans of enemies-to-lovers arcs will enjoy FBAA’s sequel more than the first book.

Overall, A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire carries the same issues I take with From Blood and Ash, but by this time I’ve mostly gotten used to it and still enjoyed the novel.

Entertaining. The plot is really good and the action and violence was intense.

I like how many different characters there were and I easily began to find favorites among them. I look forward to the next novel.

Love the characters and the story, even on my third go-around (when I'm leaving this review as I reread before book #4).

However, I'm not in love with JLA's lazy writing style and obsessive repetition of certain words/phrases. I also get thrown out with modern lingo like "mentally throat punching myself" and "throwing down" throughout the story. Does anyone edit or beta her books? Like...at all???

But I still rate it high, because the story is great, I love the characters, and the smut is hot. I'm easy to please.

If I were not so busy with school, this book would have been finished in a day or two!

I don't know how she did it, but this was better than the first book. I was hooked from the beginning of the first sentence. I highly recommend that you purchase all books at one time because now I don't know what to do with myself.

I did have to read the last chapter twice... but thats on me; I stayed up until 4am to finish the book. LOL I suggest to stop reading when all the words are blending together.

I can't wait to read the next book!

Half the book I was screaming at the main character in my head to get over herself and fall in love, and the other half  I spent relishing in the SWEET GOODNESS OF HER ADMITTING IT! We get SO much world building  in this book that give the characters and relationships so much depth and complexity. Because it’s so freaking long too, I feel like I know every thought that goes through their heads. I fell in love with each character so much more in this book because of that depth we get. And the ending? Jaw. Dropping. The best fantasy book I’ve read so far.
