a wonderfully atmospheric supernatural fantasy-mystery that builds up slowly but pays off satisfyingly in the end. i was looking for a bit of a light fantasy read as a palate cleanser for all the mystery/thrillers i've read this month but still sticking to the snowy wintry theme i'm going for and found this book. didn't really expect to like it as much as i did, especially in the beginning with the protagonist being like oh i'm so different and special... she grew on me

Overall, interesting story. Didn't really care for the ending. Solid read.

I loved the beauty of this book , everything in gorgeous detail . I finished it quickly , it was a soft intense book , I loved Noras character and the spell inserts .

I loved The Wicked Deep, so I figured I'd give this one a try, but it doesn't feel like my thing.

I really liked this book, it hits the ground running and you are in this mystery. I really liked the breaks where we get to read about the Walkers of the past, and the times where simple spells were mentioned not to use but as a calming knowledge. The only drawback for me was that it might have felt a bit too intense, too pushed forward as Nora tried to solve the mystery. I think there could have been a bit more of a gradual increase of intensity? It’s worth a second read for sure.

WHERE DID FIN GO, IS HE OKAY?!?!?!?!?!?! I’m very concerned that was never addressed again so that’s a no from me. This was alright overall, it had its moments and the writing was good at times but I just kinda felt confused and indifferent most of the time. I loved the idea of a sentient forest and family of female witches, but the execution fell flat. The romance felt forced and out of nowhere and I absolutely hated anything with those idiot boys from the camp, they were awful and I hated them.
