This was a great little dark romance, holiday novella.
Although this is a short read, we get a good enough look at Saint's past as well as Hayley's. This allows us to understand their decisions and what bonds them.
I loved how fate seemed to bring Saint and Hayley together. Not to mention just how immediately taken Saint was with Hayley. His protectiveness was sweet, and Hayley being nonjudgmental towards Saint was wonderful. She saw his true character and wanted him to realize his self worth.
The drama with Hayley's stepbrother added some heart pounding action to this story, which I think made it feel well rounded.

i had heard decent things about this novella on TikTok so i decided to give it a try. i wanna say maybe 30 pages in the MCs are already fucking. there was no build up other than Haley’s “oh i like dark bad boys” and Saints “i will claim and protect what mine”.
spice was decent, writing was okay, super rushed; i wish the author would have made this a little longer (around 200-250 pages) so that the reader has a little more time to process and be fully in the scene.
love the concept. i wish we saw more of him stealing tho, but not bad. the ending was also decent, it made sense i guess for the book but i could have been fine without the step brother

Not terrible. Not great. It’s just an odd vibe with tons of Christmas references. Warning some step sibling taboo hinting but nothing happens.
He is a bad choice and of course Hayley has to lean into him. Saint constantly says that he needs to leave town by a specific date but never gives a reason why. Everything feels rushed (of course it would because it is a novella) but it is at the cost of the story.
I’ll probably read more from this author in the future.

I go into novellas with lowered expectations, only because I know I'll either be sad I don't get more, or upset with the insta-lust/love happening lol. The beginning and middle weren't bad and I actually was enjoying myself, but once the step-bro goes off the rails, so did the story. It took a turn that I wasn't expecting and while he was absolutely a creep, I just wasn't going into the story for those vibes. Also, how do you love someone after spending two days with them, mainly screwing, and then stalking them for a month? If the L-word would've been left out, I could've left this story a bit happier.
(Also really wish it wasn't only Hayley who confirmed her "safe" status. Saint wasn't a saint either.)
