Adam Silvera once again broke my heart (pun intended)
I enjoyed this one more than its sequel, but I think it also made me enjoy its sequel more. There was a liberal dose of foreshadowing but it wasn’t quite heavy handed. The twist at the end was enough of a surprise to be pleasant, and the characters overall felt very human.
Honestly it was a great prequel to the Death-Cast world, but some parts were just blah and not captivating or were repetitive.
This book was beautiful I read half of it in one day. If I had to pick between this one and the first one I could pick They both Die at the End. I think the ending was better. I was more shocked at the start of this one because of what Val says he will do for Orion is so beautiful. I think there were parts that didn’t need to be added to the book like I enjoyed them I just didn’t understand why they were super important to the plot of the story. Like Gloria and Frankie’s relationship is tragic but i don’t really see the significance of that being in the story other than the fight between them caused Val’s death. I think he could have died in a different way that excluded Gloria and Frankie. I absolutely loved the surprise appearances of Rufus and Mateo, I’m so glade he added that in.
Such an interesting concept to be notified that you are dying within the next 24 hours. I wished more had been revealed about Death Cast and it's creation but loved the story between the characters. Kind of slow moving but in the end a beautiful story.
W O W. An amazing prequel, a rollercoaster of emotions with twists and turns I actually didn’t expect. I need more on Orion please.
