read this book.

asa is my fav boy in a novel in a loooong time. perfection. love how casual the LGBTQ stuff was--it was there of course but wasn't a major plot point and wasn't anything lauren even thought about. especially w eliott. intimate scenes were written well, not cringy. light in comparison to some but i'm not one to complain about that. bonus points for being placed in florida bc i live here and it's not a typical location for any sort of media!

epilogue was amazing too. last line was so damn CUTE.

I really loved and enjoyed this book (lmfao the way I start everything).

It was a cozy read and the sarcasm and deflection? Biggest things I’ve ever related to. I felt like Asa and Lauren were me but split in half. I loved their banter, the sort of enemies start then to lovers and then finding out that they’ve been in love all along —eeeeee makes me heart swell!! Within the first 4 pages I was already giggling and laughing at the exchanges and narration of their inner dialogues. Also Lauren being obsessed with how Asa smells? Literally dude when a guy smells good you’re like WTF WHAT FEBREEZE IS THE CLOSEST TO THAT?!?!!!

My biggest gasp was finding out about their first kiss.

The personal backstories and trauma of both characters was woven in so well to the resolutions they find in the end for themselves. I like that it didn’t take center stage but rather that we get to see them trying their best and that there isn’t some cookie-cutter solutions to such big traumatic events. Sometimes you take a first step and see where it takes you. The important thing is that you took it! I think that given the lightheartedness of the setting anything extra dark would’ve made this a heavy book. I loved that it wasn’t tacky solutions but actual first steps and (possible) realistic expectations. She stood up for him! And he kept reaching out his hand to get her out her shell.

These characters make me want to visit Cold World even though it does not exist!! I’m sad about finishing their story. It was, in a way, a comfort read (idk what that says about me but idc) and these are characters I would definitely want to hangout with.

The cover is absolutely GORGEOUS. I am OBSESSED. I feel like I need a personal poster of the cover alone!!!

This was cute, and I loved the cover, but the karaoke scene made me want to die, and I sometimes got really frustrated with the characters' misunderstandings.

Edit: Luckily for the book, I wrote this reveiw before I finished the epilogue. Not sure I can forgive the author for that last line. Disgusting. And yet another reason for my dislike of epilogues.

This was cute, I totally ate it up, and I love Asa and Lauren overall. I do wish we got more time with the housemates as well, but that's okay. The only thing I didn't like was how quickly their relationship escalated, or the unnecessary conflicts due to communication issues.
