Like any middle schooler, Rahul wants to find his own niche, be the best at something. Throughout this charming story, he strives to do just that. Along the way, he deals with friendship, self-esteem, anxiety, racism, bullying, exploring being gay, and exploring his family's Indian roots.
I really enjoyed this book, it's an excellent middle-grade read. The characters are a lot of fun, and Rahul's struggles are handled really well. I wish that every kid dealing with what Rahul does had the familial and extended familial support that he does. A heart-warming read.
