Guilty as Sin

Tami Hoag

3.78 AVERAGE

Having read, and loved, two of Tami Hoag's other books (Kill the Messenger and Dust to Dust), I had high hopes for this one, and it didn't disappoint. It did, however, read like an earlier effort -- perhaps slightly less polished than the other two. But that's a minor nitpick. The story held my interest. I genuinely liked Ellen (even though her constant leap to think the worst of people, especially Brooks, grated on my nerves a little). I also liked some of the secondary characters, and got teary eyed during the final scene between "Father" Tom and Hannah. There were a few loose ends that didn't quite wrap up well enough for my liking (like why was Josh so terrified of his father?), but otherwise I enjoyed the way the plot developed and its conclusion. I'd been craving a good legal thriller, and the courtroom scenes fit the bill here. All in all, Guilty as Sin gave me another good reason to add more of Tami Hoag's books to my ever-growing TBR pile.

Book #1 read in 2007

This book is the follow-up to Night Sins. I think this book was better than the previous one. It kept me guessing right up to the end, and I had to resist the urge to look ahead. Loved it!
dark mysterious tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

While the start of the book was a bit slow, the twist towards the end that tied everything together was unexpected.

A neat little thriller with a surprise ending. Made for a good read.

This book was quite interesting! Didn't see the ending being like it was, very twisted. My only issue was that is could've been shortened and been just as suspenseful! Would definitely recommend this book! I didn't read the one before this first and was able to keep up with characters and understand things just fine!

This book continues the story started in Night Sins. The story could have been told in one book. I struggled to finish this book and only did because I wanted to know who was really guilty. The romance in the first book is mirrored in the romance in this one. It is a bit irritating that the female character however strong we are told she is cannot stand on her own and has to be in relationship.

Good lord, what an idiotic and badly written book. Shame on all of you who marked it up to four stars.

The first book of this series was better than this second one which is excessively long in my humble opinion.
