I lhave really loved this trilogy - there just aren’t enough books that feature cats as heroes. What I liked about this series was the mental connection between the protagonist, Shining, and the cats, the way Shining is so strong and sassy while struggling to hide her vulnerability, and the descriptions of the post-apocalyptic world and its extraordinary weapons. The clever, resourceful warrior heroine reminded me of Hail in the Indranan trilogy by KB Wagers.

What I wasn’t as fond of in this specific book is Shining’s insulting treatment of her love interest and the unrealistically happy ending. Everyone wants a happy ending but it’s also important for it to fit into the reality of the story.

That said, I definitely recommend the series - it’s violent but also fun, like an action thriller movie.
