An interesting thing about Howard’s book is that the heroines age with her. The earlier books all have women in early twenties, then slowly more towards late twenties, then early thirties and here we have late thirties.
It’s quite refreshing to be honest.
But I still didn’t like this book much. I think the whole trilogy was boring.

Oh my, this book is execrable. The world did not need a female Jason Bourne. Also, the writing is painfully bad. I read a lot of popular romance, and I did not pick this up expecting spare and beautiful prose, but I also did not expect florid and hideous prose. Also, there are plot holes big enough for an elephant to stroll through.

I enjoyed most of the book. The beginning and the ending had the exciting parts to the story. The middle seemed to drag a bit, but overall it was good. This was heavy on the suspense and low on the romance.

Hero is a Texas man that still has that wild Texas boy in him, always ready for adventure. Heroine is more serious and pretty badass considering she’s a professional assassin. The ending surprised me. That more than anything made me like this book. I like being caught off guard like that...in a good way.

fun rainy day read

CIA contract agents, hired assassins, viruses unleashed on society...this tale of spies and suspense, lovers and evildoers, had me reading long past my bedtime. She's not my favorite author, but this is the one real gem I've found in her repertoire.
