I loved the first book so much but I didn't keep my hopes up too high for this because I have read quite a few Freida McFadden books since then and none of them have been as fantastic as The Housemaid. I loved that book.

This one wasn't as good. It wasn't bad either.

We all now that McFadden loves a twist. The twist wasn't bad but it also wasn't the twist I was hoping for (which I suppose is counterintuitive because if it was what I wanted to happen, then it wouldn't have been a surprise but whatever).

I think the reason the previous book worked so well wasn't because of the twist that the man was the villain - it was the twist in which we find out Millie is a badass. That twist was so empowering. This time around, we already know what Millie is capable of so the author had to go a different route. And it worked fine but instead of feeling empowered I mostly felt really stressed out.

Is it worth reading? Yes. Should you rush right into it after The Housemaid? Probably not.

The Housemaid's Secret continues the story of Millie.  Mille is a maid for the rich, but that's not all she does.  She gets hired by the Garrick's, but all is not as it seems.  Millie just may be the one that doesn't survive.

To me this one started out slow.  I struggled to read the first 50 pages and thought about DNFing it.  But, it picked up after then, and I flew through the book.  The twists were great.  That one twist, I can't tell you about bc I don't want to ruin the book, really got me.

😊 Happy Reading 😊

Once again, Fredia McFadden has left me thinking, "What did I just read?". Read this in one day, more like 6 hours. While it was good, I think The Housemaid was better, but I am anticipating the next release in the series. This book is full of twists and turns, and in every chapter, there is something new happening. This book will keep you on edge the whole time.
