At first it was alittle difficult to get into, but then it was so weird in a good way. The twist actually shocked me. I also love the colors of the cover.

honestly this was a let down... i had heard that this book was dark and weird and it sort of fell short on both fronts for me. i wasn't expecting it to take a magical realism route and that threw me for a loop. i wasn't really buying into the whole turning animals into people thing because to be honest, it wasn't really explored enough. this is just a personal thing, but i wanted it to be more gruesome and gross and it never delivered. i found all of the characters to be boring and one-dimensional, ESPECIALLY the bunnies -- i didn't like how they were just portrayed as girly and boy-crazy and evil and that's about it. they were not humanized at all and it made me not gaf about them. the main character was giving "i'm not like other girls" like crazyyyyy. also, the prose was repetitive and pretentious and thought it was a lot smarter than it actually is. the concept is interesting but i just wish it was executed better.

p.s. anyone who says that this is similar to the secret history is lying through their teeth or delusional. like i guess they both have the dark academia thing going on but the secret history is literary and gorgeous and this is... simply not.

At least two uses of the G slur. Not a cute look.

When I say I want to read more weird fiction, THIS is what I mean!

I've got no more to say, I was struggling not to give this a 5 stars the second I finished it, and had to make myself sit on it and stew for another day before deciding it was more likely a 4, 4.5.

Still, what a book...
