Reading this made me so so happy and brought me right back to my childhood. I must have read a version of it at some point in my life, because there were some details I remembered. But it has Definitely been a long time since i read it. And I loved every minute of it and know I will reread this book often.

I don't understand how this is a classic that people keep making adaptations of it's full of awful children, ableism, racism and a classiest depictions of Yorkshire

Reread so I can discuss this on The Garden Path podcast soon. Fun to go through this again as an adult, since the last time I read it I was 10. I'll save my thoughts for the podcast and add a link once it's live.
