This was GOOD. I couldn't put it down in the second half, there was so much suspense
challenging dark tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Wow, this book is explicit in  (sexual) violence. Much darker than I usually read, but it was very well written: good language, complex characters, multiple povs, small shifts in chronology. Kept me on edge the whole way trough. Could not put it away.
Excellent performance of the narrator of the audiobook.

i enjoyed this fast paced mystery thriller. the main character was a bit unbelievable but aren't a lot of main characters!

The Killing Lessons is a thriller that follows three characters; the mentally ill serial killer who leaves weird things behind in his victims, the daughter of one of his victims who managed to get away, and the worn out cop who is trying to piece everything together while battling her own demons.
I liked the way the story jumped around between characters because it kept me engaged and guessing about the story, but I can see how that would bother someone. šŸ”Ŗ
If you like the show Criminal Minds and Michael Myers is your favorite movie killer (Leon/the killer reminded me of him) you'll like the Killing Lessons!
⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Just...meh. The storyline is very compelling and there truly are great parts that had me at the edge of my seat. However, the downfall of this novel is there are parts that just draaaaag and draaaaaaag.

Glad I read it and can now know how to better recommend it to thriller fans.

This is a bit of a throwback to the 90s serial killer boom but manages to hold its own. Gripping and very well written in the main, I only had two gripes with it:
1) at times it's so horrible and bleak you want to stop reading it (you can't though, it's too gripping)
2) one of the sub plots really loses its way for a while and the book is less satisfying as a result
Despite those things, this is a compelling, horribly believable read.

Not going to lie, this was a book I stole from a hotel in Tenerife about 5 years ago! (Sorry not sorry)- so glad to finally have given it a go!

On the front cover it states ā€œdo not read this. No reader deserves to be terrified like thisā€ which in all honesty made me quite excited! I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that has been absolutely terrifying before!

And I still haven’t!

This is a crime fiction novel and not the horror, fear inducing book that is promised. Don’t get me wrong this didn’t make it a bad book BUT when you are expecting scary and it doesn’t deliver then that is quite disappointing! Anyway- let’s talk about what the book did give....

A series of brutal rapes and brutal murders; a young girl fleeing for her life after witnessing the murder of her mother and brother; an old man eager to help but struggling; a troubled cop desperate to solve the crime; a victim, still alive and trying to survive; and two crazed murderers on the loose- going from state to state looking for new women to abduct

The opening chapters of this book are absolutely INTENSE and totally sets the scene. Ten chapters of pure adrenaline! The character development of everyone throughout is very well written and for a crime novel which to be honest I usually find a bit meh; it did hit the spot!

There were some moments of boredom but overall it had my attention and I enjoyed seeing what was going to happen. I do wish that the young girl and the old man were in it more instead of it being based around the cop with mental health issues and a hard life (predictable as always)... but a truly great read if you like that sort of thing!

What? This book was on a list with great twists....but there was no twist at all!!! A more disturbing than creepy mass market paperback. I didn't enjoy it because I only kept reading for a twist that never came. Oh well.

Such a great novel! I forced myself to put it down so that I could enjoy it and have it last.

But a cliff hangar?!?! What!?
