I felt The Music Box was a whimsical fairytale. It had many classical elements; light, dark, love, loss and a dash of magic. It was a fun, light read and I enjoyed the illustrations. There is also a musical score that was composed to accompany the story that I look forward to listening to.

This is such a lovely story. It is a new edition to classic fairytales and reads like a story straight out of a Grimm compilation. While reading this, I could vividly picture the scenes taking form in my mind and it was a fun time. However, I did have two problems with it. The first is that this story really needs an editor. There were many typos that jolted me out of the story, and I had to reread to figure out what was trying to be said. My other issue was that a book really seems like the wrong format to tell this story. The entire time I kept thinking to myself that it would be so amazing and beautiful as a ballet or short animation. Written down, the story seemed a bit clumsy and bare. This isn't to say the story is bad because it definitely isn't. It's one that reminded me of the stories that got me into reading when I was young. Still, I really think that it would be much more impactful in a different medium. I still enjoyed it though and am glad I had a chance to read it!

I enjoyed the book and the story was really interesting, but unfortunately for me I struggled with how the sentences and paragraphs were written.
