This novel had an interesting story line, but I just wasn't impressed with how it was conveyed. If there is a sequel, I won't be reading it. It wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't topnotch.

I wasn't expecting particularly anything from this book when I bought it
so I was surprised that is a good book, it has action and enough twists to make it interesting

Very cool futuristic thriller. Reminded me a bit of Divergent (there are weapons training scenes ala Dauntless initiation) and other dystopians, but this one is set in Cleveland in only the very near future, so that was cool. And the genetically engineered power these teens have is pretty awesome: the ability to cause fear by emitting psychic energy from their brains! Good local scenery, action, camaraderie among teammates despite the main character Miranda's amnesia.

First book in a trilogy, and it was nominated for the Buckeye Children's and Teen Book Award.

Sorry Mr. Krokos but I couldn't finish it. Why did I suddenly stop? Because in the midst of running from pursuers under the water the characters just happen to start snogging. Uh, if I was running away from death I don't think kissing underwater would be top of my priority list. The whole patchy memory thing was annoying too. She can't remember what colour her hair is but she can remember how to use her powers? Or she can remember how to drive? I know muscle memory and that but come on. The writing is pretty well paced, and I liked the plot and idea. But nah, not for me.

Fuck me.......with a book dick.

THIS BOOK DESERVES COMPLETE FANGIRLING AND FULL SCREECHING AND APPRECIATION.

Okay let's begin from the start. I didn't have any expectations, which may be the cause of my overabundance of joy but the other half is the writing. No nonsense, straight to the point. The pace is bloody good.

~~~~CHARACTERS~~~~
There was not a character that acted out of line. Each individual in here acted like how you'd act in a situation (given you had training like these Roses) you see yourself rooting for them and making oooh noises whenever a steamy scene comes on. (Should note it might not be all that Fifty shades steamy but I'm reading this during my hormonal phase)
~~~~OVERALL~~~~
This is the type of novel that requires IMMEDIATE ATTENTION from movie producers or, heck a TV series would be good. Could add in more details.

~~~~THE DOWNSIDE~~~~
You would think that because I finished this book in less than 24 hours, I would say it was hard to put down. Well, part of that is true but most of it was just due to my pathetically lazy day.
First, let me say I love this cover. Adore it, actually. Good marketing, right there with the bright color scheme against a dark background.
Second, I thought that the main idea of the story, the idea you can lose your memory and then have to regain it, was rather ingenious. I do wish, however, Dan Krokos had taken everything a step further and upped the ante. This was your average YA book with a female protagonist hooked in a (gasp) love triangle. Really? They basically have to save the world.
The ending was a little hard to understand but once I reread certain passage, I was able to follow more clearly. Not sure yet if I'll pick up number 2 when it comes out. I have a while to think about it.
This book was...mind-boggling. I was questioning everything through the entire book. Don't get me wrong, it was a great suspenseful adventure. There was literally non-stop action the entire book. I don't think there was EVER a dull moment. But it had it's times where it was confusing. Can't wait for the second one.
I don't know what to think about this book. There are too many...people in it. It's kind of weird. I don't think I will keep reading this series.
False Memory surprised me. I wasn't expecting such a well written page turner!
At first glance I expected an angsty teen book with it's classic love triangle of "I just love them both!", with a poor plot. But from page One I was pretty hooked!
Maybe it was easy for me to love because I had such a mental image of Cleveland, (home sweet home) the entire time I was reading.
I liked the romance aspect more then usual. The fact that Miranda
Spoiler liked Peter even though she thought she was supposed to love Noah made for an interesting love triangle. It wasn't unrealistic and obsessive, which is different then a lot of YA novels. Miranda's character also made it believable that although those she care about can consumed her thoughts she was still able to kick some serious ass with out having to whine about her feelings the whole time.
The idea of the memory loss and the
Spoiler power to psychically push fear onto others, causing mass hysteria
was intriguing for sure. Krokos took time into thinking about how having this
Spoiler fear power would make the brain compensate by the memory loss.
The theory was pretty thought through. And I wanted to know more about the
Spoilermemory shots. What was in them? Could they just take them to a lab and test it and make more for themselves?
I can't tell if I wanted more details from this book just because I'm impatient and want to know whats going on or I feel like it lacked in telling me the answers before it ended. But I will have to wait I guess.
I will definitely pick up the next one.
