I don't know why I'm giving this 3 stars...it was so boring. Yawn.

Very slow writing and too direct for my taste. The romance wasn’t the greatest and I was not invested in the story. It was okay overall and I did love the vet/police romance and job aspect.

This is the first book I read by Jaci Burton mainly because I stay away from most contemporary romances. I picked this book up just so I can vary my genres even more and thought this would be a very cute love story - and it is. If you're looking for a love story that doesn't have a lot of twists and turns and concentrates on the romance between the characters - this is the book for you. I'm definitely gonna read more books by Jaci Burton.

This was okay. I thought it was a bit boring at times. Like I really didn't need to know all about how to water ski. And I wasn't completely sold on the conflict. But I did like Luke and Emma and their doggies. Oh, also, not a huge fan of the narrator. Her voice for the women was okay, but I disliked her voice for the men.

I’ve so been enjoying contemporary romance lately, and I’ve also really enjoyed listening to contemporary romance novels on audio. After hearing pretty positive things about a recent release in the Hope series, I decided to give Hope Flames by Jaci Burton a try. Seriously the covers for these books are so yummy. While I liked Hope Flames, I did find bits a little boring.
Hope Flames is about Emma, who has just opened up her veterinarian practice, and Luke who is a policeman and has a police dog. Both Luke and Emma were so easy to like and root for. I really appreciated how strong both Emma and Luke are on their own. I always love strong characters, especially when it comes to women characters.
Both Emma and Luke have had some less than stellar relationships in the past so they are both understandably hesitant to start relationships now. But they can’t deny their feelings for each other. I also really liked that things didn’t get soap opera-y.
My favorite part of Hope Flames were Emma’s and Luke’s doggies. Emma has two and Luke has one and they all basically become best friends. I just love when doggies in books fall in love with each other before their owners realize how they feel about each other.
However, sometimes Hope Flames was a bit dull. There was this whole seen about water skiing, and there was so much detail about how to actually water ski. I really didn’t need to know all those details. I also wasn’t completely sold on the conflict of the story. And at times the story felt a little hokey.
As for the audiobook, I wasn’t that impressed with the narrator. While I liked her voice for the women characters, he voice for the men was a bit odd and I didn’t care too much for it. But it wasn’t an awful audiobook either, and narrator’s voices are so very subjective.
Overall, I did like Hope Flames, although it doesn’t leave me wanting more books from this series. I might try one more to get a feel for the author’s writing, though. This review was originally posted on Quinn's Book Nook

Very boring so far... what is it with 2014? Every book that has been on my "can't wait" shelf has been not worth the wait! :(
Update; no plot, no interest... I don't even care to read any more books in this series. Maybe I will make an exception for Molly and Carter but overall don't waste your money on this overpriced book.
