This divisive little number... So much of Goodreads seems to love or hate it! My friends however - like myself - have generally positive reviews. Months later, I still remember striking scenes and robust characters told with (admittedly) dense and challenging prose.

The first half of this I thought was interesting, compelling
Then the second half (furies) begins and the way my mind was Blown at the twists through the very end. Such a brilliantly organized/written novel.

It's supposed to be a dazzling portrait of a long standing marriage that has all their friends in envy. The basis of their relationship is actually sex and secrets. Lots and lots of unromantic, banal, animalistic sex with no emotion whatsoever.

This was an absolutely beautifully told story with fabulous writing and character development. I was in a slum of bad books and this was such a wonderful palate cleanser and quality book.
