The plot is well-knit and has a pulsating quality - alternating between tense buildups and then stages of homeostasis. The gradual tension creeps up on you and can have a far deeper affect on your mind than you’d initially realize while reading it. Definitely a must read for horror and suspense lovers.

I really did not enjoy the main character’s perspective. He’s a straight white male in the 80s and he thinks like one. His was not an interesting mind to reside in. 
I ended up just reading the summary and am happy I didn’t sit through this plot.

I was in awe of this book. King did an amazing job. As a mother of two babies under two, I was in my feelings so much in this book. At one point, I was crying so hard I could barely read the words on the page. But I couldn’t put the damn thing down. King left me with some unanswered questions though at the end. What happens to Ellie?? That’s the main thing I would like to know. That, and how does Rachel turn out?
