ok to be fair this book targeted me--a queer woman whose academic focus is misogynoir and is against marriage getting together with a (unfortunately probably straight but that isn't explicitly said at least) dude whose focus is breaking down toxic masculinity? all in the context of a fun and light romance novel? this would have had to REALLY fall apart to not get at least 4 stars. but--and maybe my standards have dropped during the pandemic to make me say this--i am totally giving this 5 stars bc it exceeded my expectations. i love talia hibbert it turns out.

TW/CW:death of a parent & sibling (car wreck), panic attacks, anxiety, mature sexual content, depression, imposter syndrome and processing grief.

All the ⭐️'s!

This was even better than book one, the amount of times I literally laughed out loud with Dani’s internal monologue and just swooned with Zaf’s ugh yes please! I am absolutely in love with this series and am blaming Talia Hibbert on my extremely high expectations of men and wanting a fictional character.

This book explores so many emotions, anxiety and our internal conflicts, expectations we have of ourselves and just vulnerability in general and in relationships and it was so much more than your average romance. And while this book is named after Dani we get a lot of Zaf's POV and I was not bothered in the least.

I read some reviews that didn't get Dani's aversion to love but honestly I completely understand where she is coming from.

And yes definitely expect a lot of hot and steamy scenes in this one!
