Moe Prager reluctantly takes a job looking into the disappearance of a young woman who was interning for an up and coming state senator. Moe is a great character and the story had just enough plot twists to keep me turning the pages.

First line
"The reception was at the Lonesome Piper Country Club."

I am a huge Moe Praeger fan and in the process of reading all of the books in this series. But I must say that this book is in my top 10 for this year so far. It is a fantastic whodunit and just is so well written. Moe is a just a fantastic character and a PI just you just grow to adore. I read this book in two days while going to work because I could not put it down.

i think i finally have a clear idea of the difference between a hard-boiled mystery and a regular mystery. i love the depth of this book.

Enjoyed this a lot. Some characterization, but not so much that it overshadows the story. Plot fairly standard but well executed. The feel of the settings add to the whole thing for a nice sort of noir lite. Will try more
