For me, I had a hard time finishing this book. I put it aside for months because I just couldn’t get into it. It was a big deviation from the first two and it dragged a bit. But the last quarter of the book made up for it a little and a lot of character development culminated into a WTF kind of ending. I’m still up for finishing this series out… but this one felt like a big speed bump.

personally thought the previous books in the series were better in regards to character development but I appreciate the solid world-development in this book

I wanted to like this book more, but most of it felt a little flat to me.

I missed the Skwyard Flight folks - it sucks that they haven't been around for two books.

A lot of Sepnsa's internal monolgue felt clunky. I'm not sure if I would feel that way about Skyward if I read it now, but it made it hard to keep going through. There's also just a lot of descriptions of vague touching-things-with-your-mind that just got old after a while.

The ending however was good, and the point of
you aren't obligated to give up everything you are for a cause
was a good one.

Sanderson is my favourite author, so I say this with a heavy heart; This book was a letdown. Especially when compared to the first book in this series, which was phenomenal imo.

Cytonic is an excellent book though. I do think it struggles a little bit with some things I've seen from Sanderson before, which is that this book feels a bit like setup for the next book. Some of the connections and storylines either don't connect or just feel to drawn out in this, even though I suspect that's information we will need within the next book.

I feel like I am one of the few people who actually enjoyed the slower paced books in the series, Starsight and Cytonic. I loved learning more about this universe and I think they both offered an interesting perspective on the enemies Spensa had been facing since book one. I suppose book four will be more action-packed, now that the world has been properly built. Really looking forward to it! (and more Spensa and Jorgen content xddd)

Those last few chapters, ughhhh. I knew that everything would be fine in the end, but I couldn't help being a little afraid for one of the characters. Really curious how that issue will be resolved in book four.
