This book kept me on the edge of my seat. There were several times I actually yelled at the characters in the book, “wtf are you doing?!?”. I thoroughly enjoyed having the POV for all three of the main characters; I feel like the storyline would not have worked as well without that aspect.

This booked pissed me off for so many reasons. I really enjoyed the Fig POV parts and I like the reveal of Darius been living garbage, but this book was so messy and not in a good way. We completely just threw away the idea that Fig wants Mercy for herself even though that's what starts the entire book. Like she just forgets about her after spending several chapters talking about how Mercy is her child. Like? And also I thought it seemed pretty clear that Fig and George were divorced. She literally tells Jolene amd Darius they're divorced. There is no mention of him being an active part of Figs life at all until near the end. Like there is a mention of a double date in the first part and that was confusing because Fig wasn't seeing any body. Why did we ignore him for the entire book? And I'll be real the twist in the last few sentences made me groan out loud. Cringe. Feels like a twist a high schooler would write. And the ending in general was just... meh. Like thats how you react to your stalker moving next door to you again? Just not believable. Overall I was really disappointed because the premise sounded really interesting.  But this reads like someone's first book that they self published with no editor. Probably won't read anything else by this author.

OMG!

That book was brilliant. It was well written, and I could not put it down. Now I’m wondering if it’s based on fact.

I had really high hopes for this book and I was so underwhelmed.

I get that the narrators are supposed to be unreliable because they are psychopaths/sociopaths but the entire book was just too jumbled and confusing for me to really get into it. Maybe one day I will re-read and hopefully understand better?

Also, I physically cringed every time Fig said “bad mommy” so that made the first 25 chapters not great.

"I Can Be a Better You" by Tarryn Fisher offers a chilling exploration of Fig Coxbury's psyche, blending elements of psychopathy and sociopathy. The narrative is a dark journey into obsession, with Fig's unsettling desires driving her actions. The gripping storyline and the examination of complex human relationships make this psychological thriller a compelling read, filled with suspense and tension. Fisher skillfully crafts a tale that leaves readers questioning the boundaries of identity and morality.
