Meh, looking up to political figures and idolizing them isn’t my favorite type of book.

I know it’s important to show girls they can make a difference just like a man can is important, so overall, this book is an okay one. I appreciate the main message: girls should reach for their dreams and can whatever a man can accomplish.

This fantastic picture book on the life and time of Governor Ann Richard is among the latest batch of Bluebonnet Award winners. I hope this gets it into the hands of thousands of young Texas girl. It’s their generation that gives me hope for Texas.

Are you in the mood for a Texas-sized picture book biography ? Look no further than Meghan P Browne’s debut Indelible Ann. This gorgeously illustrated and well-written book tells the life story of former governor Ann Richards. It’s an inspiring tale for girls (and boys) who want to dream big and change the world. The narrative is just lovely and there are even more facts in the back matter.

What an inspirational story of a woman who through persistence and determination got not only to be the governor but also showed us politicians can be honest and care about their people. My favorite quote from her is, "We're not going to have the America that we want until we elect leaders who are going to tell the truth, not most days, but every day."
This story shows that truth through beautiful text and vivid illustrations.
