I was hooked at the beginning, but lost interest as the book progressed. I would've enjoyed it more had there been more fantasy elements and better characterization.

Loved the old Irish and Nordic folklore woven into this story, and it created a beautiful setting.
The plot, while predictable, was reasonably engaging and reasonably held my interest. That said, I find the fantasy elements in this story to be the least compelling. With the exception to the immortality, the magic in this world felt too convenient in its uses, and is my least favorite part of the story.
Characters are 50/50 for me. I find Fodla to be too predictable and not complex enough to be thoroughly invested.
Gormflaith on the other hand is the most interesting morally grey FMC I’ve read in a while. I never had to “push through” her chapters and always found her actions and motivations engaging.
