I read this only because it's Pride and Prejudice, it's a book that everyone has to read at least once in their lives. If not for that fact, I would have put this down early on.

Sure, I can understand why so many people love it. Elizabeth is a strong-willed, intelligent girl, living in a time when girls were not expected to be strong-willed or intelligent. She spurns all her admirers, including arrogant Mr Darcy. Then she discovers then under his arrogance lies a kind and generous heart, and when Mr Darcy, out of love for her, humbles himself, she falls in love with him. It's the stuff of fairy tales. Throw in Elizabeth's older sister Jane, and Mr Darcy's friend Bingley, two perfect lovers separated by a misunderstanding, Elizabeth's two younger sisters silly over boys, an equally silly mother and a witty father, and you've got the perfect chick lit. But I'm not a fan of chick lit, with its inane and predictable plotlines, and I found myself uncharmed by the book.

It's interesting, though, to note how similar chick lit from the 1800s can be to the modern day version. From
then till now, people love the spunky girl who divides opinions, and the silent, arrogant man with a soft interior. The setting, the manner of speaking, and the activities may differ, but personalities and relationships are essentially the same. Human nature hasn't changed much over all these years, despite everything else that has changed.

I just couldn't with the reader. I'm more accustomed to American readers that this thick British accent made it difficult to focus. Additionally, the language on book, being from the 1800s, didn't suit me.

(Ya lo había acabado en junio ups pero) Enemies to lovers pero hazlo histórico, con un lenguaje elegante y con personajes que realmente tienen motivos para odiarse y aprender a no hacerlo.
