a good start

A good start to the series. The plot lacked a bit but was still enjoyable to read! Can't wait for book 2!

Noooooooo what a cliffhanger to end on!

I loved everything about this book. From the main characters and how they acted, to the quest itself, and all the way to the little details that made battle scenes and depictions of a character's injuries feel real. I fell in love with Vethe and I greatly admire Lyria. They are both such strong individuals who have big personalities that don't always mesh well but they also have their vulnerable sides.
I sped read the last few chapters because I needed to see how this part of the story would end. And now I have a mighty need for the next one!

I enjoyed this a lot!
Lyria and Vethe have great chemistry and their flirty banter backs forth is great. I adore the fact he isn’t intimidated by a strong independent woman and trusts her with his life.
The world building is easy to follow and over all enjoyable. The spicy scenes were a great touch too..I’m surprised more demons didn’t attack them while they were doing it.
If you like light fantasy and tough heroines with cocky male leads, this is the book for you!

This was all right. The world building was interesting. The set-up was long. Our two mains don’t meet until 25% and then the alternating POV was more irritating than entertaining. I wouldn’t say it ends on a cliffhanger, but the story isn’t finished.

77p was too much for this book

There was a lot of things that made no sense but the main ones that annoyed me were:
- The heroine is meant to be a badass, but aside from one fight at the start, she is pretty weak and useless throughout
- The hero is a magic user in hiding... but then immediately uses magic in front of her?
- They would mention being wary of bandits/demons/people at ruins but proceed to be extremely loud constantly
- Hero was burning hot to the touch yet a horse was okay with him on its back for days
- The dialogue (internal and spoken)

I think I would have enjoyed this book a lot more if it was from one POV (probably heroines) and we discovered things as we went
