A new dark faerie romance that I devoured.

Fortuna is a nightmare, the last of her kind. Her ability to see your greatest fear and turn it against you. Fortuna was such a good main character, she was feisty, loyal, and determined. She wanted to find her brother, Damon, at all costs, the love she had for him was poured out on every page. When an attractive and powerful fae male helps her escape being sold, she is forced into a bargain, marriage, with the mysterious Colith.

This was dark and atmospheric in the Unseelie court. It was absolutely amazing to read. The trials were amazing, complex and mind manipulating in each case. I was there with Fortuna, begging her to get up, to do what needed to be done.

Absolutely loved this and I can't wait to dive into book 2 and 3 once it's out!

I'm sad I didn't like this as much as I hoped. I didn't connect with most of the characters, including Fortuna until near the end. And given that not much happens plot-wise in the first half of the book, that didn't make for an enjoyable read.

She makes a lot of impulsive decisions, including a big one that makes for the plot in the 2nf half of the book. A lot of it is emotion driven. And while understandable and realistic, it wasn't entertaining. It was also endlessly frustrating how she's so hyper focused on one thing that she didn't notice these glaring issues.

There was only one surprise in this ending for me. But its the ending that has me interested in reading more.
