This was good, the prose is definitely the strongest point of the book, it is very beautiful. It does however beat it's water metaphors a little too hard. Idk if this makes sense to anyone but it reminded me of reading the Iliad and Odyssey where certain similes and metaphors are so often I can predict the author will use them in advance. Depending on how it's done can be good or can be annoying. This is also a concept book, the author using fiction to explore various topics related to climate change and death and legacy. I do think these parts are well done and well thought out. Moria's back and forth about whether to be selfish with the water she has is interesting and nuanced. The big downside to me is much of the world building, plot, and characterizations are underdeveloped. How much you care about those things is personal to each reader so if you like concept books this is for you, I just usually prefer a generous mix of everything. However this is definitely not as bad as some other books I've read that suffer from thematic sockpuppet syndrome
