I loved this cute novella! The instalove in this quick read is legitimized by a wayward love spell. But the main characters are obviously hot for each other prior to being accidentally struck. The world is interesting, ours but with “monsters” and magic that have come out to the general public. I definitely want to read other Mated to the Monster stories (it’s a multi-author series). The writing was fantastic. I absolutely loved our main characters (I definitely relate to the FMC not being super social lol). I loved that Shane is such a satyr in so many typical ways, but is also this nice, sensitive guy. Oh, and got to love his magical saliva! Even while being fantastical, the story is also realistic, still having prejudiced and obsessed/deranged people. The couple have their road bumps, besides just the errant love spell, but I loved the journey so much. Highly recommend it!!!

I received a copy of the book from the author, but my review is entirely voluntary and honest.

My shelves/tags might be considered spoilers, so look at your own risk!

Fave quotes:
"But I was picky. I had too many book boyfriends to compare real men to, and I always found the real-world guys lacking."
"If his touch made me burn, then his words had me melting. "
"Now all I had to do was convince her we were a match in every other way too. Other option, I could just keep her so deliriously happy that she couldn’t even imagine being without me. Hmm. Yeah. That was a good plan B."
"She was out on a date with a satyr; anyone with two brain cells to run together would know that I was going to fuck her silly later. I didn’t see why I couldn’t say it out loud."

Ivy, the female human lead, is going to a gala as her sister because a fortune teller told her she’d find her mate there and her sister isn’t interested. Expecting to just have a fun time, she’s shocked to find herself seriously interested in Shane, the male satyr lead. After they’re hit by a love spell, they spend the night together, only finding out about the spell later. But Shane is sure Ivy is his mate, love spell or not.

But who was casting a love spell and why?

This is novella is dual POV, well written and edited, and a steamy sweet, contemporary fantasy romance. I enjoyed the personality contrast between Ivy and her sister. I enjoyed the loyalty between them and the way they worked together. I enjoyed the relationship development between Shane and Ivy, including the steamy intimate scenes. I enjoyed Ivy’s willingness to take a chance with a monster known for promiscuity. I enjoyed Shane’s immediate care for Ivy and his willingness to prove it to her however she needed.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
