There are a few things making me fall in love with series. Mostly I fall in love with characters. I either want them to be my best friends forever or I simply want them to marry me. But sometimes I fall in love with the world, with the possibilities, with the magic, with the endless amount of creatures, with the politics. And this series has one of the most amazing worlds I know! I was therefore quite happy when my arc for this second book arrived.

I loved how the world got even more attention in this book. It felt like we learned so many new things, met so many new creatures and people and saw so many new places! I'm pretty sure we still haven't seen everything, but the image of the city and the world beyond the city is becoming clearer and clearer and strangely enough this only makes me long for even more. It's a pity I'm not the main character in this story and can't just wander around and have a look.

However, I'm also glad that the author doesn't try to show us everything at once. Just like the previous book, this book actually had two main storylines and just like in the previous book those two main storylines somehow connect at the very end of the book. And since I knew that this happened in the first book, and therefore expected it to happen again, I could enjoy both plots just as much and was quite curious to figure out how they would eventually come together.

I also noticed that I grew more and more attached to the characters. Not only to our heroine and her monster, although they have an amazing arc in this one, but also her friends and the people in the circle around them. It feels like they're all learning things about themselves, like they're all growing. The cliffhanger, though, even though I saw it coming because Cassidy had given us a warning, was quite nasty. I hope the wait for the next book won't be too long!

August and Telarian's 'rules' come under strain and trial in this second installment of Debbie Cassidy's Urban Fantasy epic. Honestly, this author may have stepped away from the main umbrella of this genre for a bit, but she has certainly returned with a bang! Eldritch monsters abound and drama ensues when the heart gets involved in places it really, really shouldn't.

Our main FMC, August, is just as kick@ss and Book 1 made her out to be, with Insidious MOnsters amping up the character growth, as well as the reasons behind her actions. The girl loves her family, and friends, more than herself, and it shows. Telarian, on the other hand, also stumbles into his fair share of character growth. Should I love him? Probably not. Do I love him? Of course.

Action-packed, sweeping, and surprisingly deep, this is a foray into a new universe you'll want to explore. Well written and well done... with an ending that knocks it straight out. Or knocks the reader out.... Book 3 is on the horizon, thank goodness!

-Loved it, we got to dive deeper into the world and into the history of Eldritch and Rift Walkers. August is trying to stay focus on her task while trying to figure out what happened to her mother. I really did enjoy this installment and can’t wait to find out where it goes.

I love August’s friendship with Lothos . How they really care for each other and have each other’s backs.
I’m in love with Telarion and August forbidden love. I love how the finally claims her. But I’m sad about Quentin’s situation. That cliff hanger was brutal though. I need book 3
